So. this was hard - i've been listening to John Butler Trio's Sunrise Over Sea which was their debut album in the states (apparently they're quite large over in australia, where mr. butler and his dreads now reside. hm.) ever since i got the album from my cousin in colorado and it's fucking amazing. i went to barnes and nobles today and read up on their other albums and listened to what i could since i'm too broke to buy any of their previous work. critically they are being compared to dave matthews band (dur.), ben harper and - le gasp!? - MAYER?! but one review spouted off that Butler had grooves that'd make Robert Randolph proud and that bassist Shannon Birchall (mmm, he plays standup.) was inventive in a sense that other musicians of this generation weren't picking up on. so of course i want to spread the music love, i just can't fucking pick one song, nor two, nor THREE.
buuuuut.... i don't want to give away an album for free, giving out one song makes me feel like a horrid person as it is, so how about we youtube it and you get one happy song and then one sad song? eh?
you hippie folk reading this - yea that's right, i called you hippies, don't look at me like that - best give this group a try. on my 21st i had Peaches & Cream on one of the mix CDs i made and when it came on everyone got really somber except myself and miss Linda - whom the lovely L.S. Monkey brought with her - and as i moped and dragged myself to the machine to turn it off i mumbled 'i love this song' only to get a cheerful 'ME TOO!' from Linda. and that is when i fell in adoration with her and she won fifty bonus points.

Radiohead Live at Lollapalooza '08
all i need
no surprises
fake plastic trees
i've been so effin' spoiled with my concert recordings this summer. between the girls who have got mayer's first tour leg covered (and please please please the second leg!) and were tossing the tape up the day after and then rothbury festival shows appearing like... two days after people played, hard rock calling mp3s being put up the night of, and now this? c'mon, lollapalooza was a week ago. what happened to really waiting in anticipation like the good ol' days? actually, i'm not going to complain. i'm just going to be thankful as all hell - Send Me Dead Flowers was the source for the radiohead show. major gracias to them and the original taper.
a bestey friend and her shakespearean puppy are on their way. i've got thousand of pictures to edit, cds to burn, laundry to fold, guitar to strum, and a storm to run from. woe. is. -- fuck it.
